Seedbed – April 2014

Published Date: March 25, 2014

We’re thrilled with the gaining momentum around the first annual New Room Conference! In March, we welcomed a conference partner — Wesleyan Covenant Network. And in celebration of the WCN’s involvement, we’ve extended the early bird pricing deadline to April 15. Join us in Franklin, Tenn. on September 18-19, 2014 for the joining of new voices and the start of new conversations as we collectively sow the whole gospel into the whole world. Our growing list of speakers includes Alan Hirsch, Timothy Tennent, Joseph Dongell, Phil Meadows, and many more.  Visit newroomconference.com for more information and to request an invitation.

We are excited about the release of Seeing Black and White in a Gray World by Bill Arnold. In this book, Bill Arnold challenges Adam Hamilton’s best-seller, Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White, by addressing how we should respond to the dispute in The United Methodist Church in which both sides of the debate believe their positions are perfectly obvious and true.

The month of March saw the release of World Mission in the Wesleyan Spirit, which documents how the Wesleyan mission has been understood and practiced from biblical, theological, historical, cultural, and strategic perspectives. The 31 essays in this collection are carefully researched and well-written, providing enjoyable and stimulating reading for missiologists, missionaries, and lay persons interested in understanding God’s mission.

In another of our newest releases, The Gospel of Jesus, Ben Witherington opens up the world of the four Gospels and helps us hear the story of Jesus as one seamless narrative. With a customary eye for cultural and historical details, and engaging commentary on what are sometimes overly-familiar stories, Witherington invites us to join those first century followers of Jesus around their fires and at their dinner tables, and hear the Gospel of Jesus for the first time all over again. You will love it!

We have recently focused a lot of our attention on our ebook pricing and accessibility. If you have not explored Seedbed’s ebook selection, we highly encourage you to check it out. We have cut our prices across the board when compared to our softcover versions, as well as made it easier to identify which books are available in digital format. Browse the store here.

We’re headed into the season of pastoral transition, and Seedbed has numerous resources to assist transitioning pastors and their congregations adjust to new changes. To learn more, visit seedbed.com/moving.

The Fellowship of the New Room is underway for 2014, but it’s not too late to join (and at the introductory rate!). You’ll still receive access to all the Fellowship resources received thus far. For more information and to become a member, visit the store.

Seedbed publishes a daily online devotional called the Seedbed Daily Text. Each day offers a short Bible text and a small bit of what we call “devotional commentary” written by our Sower-In-Chief, J.D. Walt, both of which aim to keep our community on a common journey. You can access the Daily Text through its website, our mobile app (here for Android), or your email inbox (share your email in the website sidebar).

Our new Seedbed app is really catching on. Download it to your smartphone today! iTunes: goo.gl/lmCJIk | Google Play: goo.gl/YTGnWM.
