Seedbed’s “Coming Soon” List for Spring

Every once in a while, we like to take a look at the Seedbed publishing pipeline so you can anticipate the timing of some things coming down the pike. First things first, though: Make sure you check out our newest releases, Soundtrack: A Forty Day Playlist Through the Psalms by J.D. Walt and Making All Things New: Sermons on the Way of Salvation, our newest John Wesley Collection title.

As for what’s on the way, here’s what you can expect and when tentatively to expect it:

Joseph: The Story of a Family by Stephen Elliott

A group of Western missionaries once gathered with a group of African pastors for a spiritual renewal retreat. The guest speaker told them he was going to talk on Joseph and asked what they thought Joseph’s story was all about. The Western missionaries said it was a story about redemption, while the African pastors said it was a story about family. This book is about the latter interpretation.

Essentially, all of life revolves around two sets of relationships: ours with God and ours with one another. In the pages of Joseph: A Story of A Family, Stephen Elliott unpacks one of the most commonly shared Old Testament stories, helping readers discover that God is findable in the midst of the relationships that shape and misshape everyday life. When all is said and done, Joseph’s story is a story about a family. Maybe even your family.

From the Steeple to the Street by Travis Collins

A missionary movement begun in England has come to North America. Long established congregations are finding ways to engage people unlikely ever to walk through their doors, and fresh expressions of church are engaging people who are “without hope and without God in the world” (Ephesians 2:12, NIV). Missional leaders from a wide range of denominational traditions are learning from each other, and prayerfully cheering for each other, as we learn to take the church Jesus loves closer to where the people Jesus loves actually are.

In From the Steeple to the Street, Travis Collins addresses the cultural realities behind the Fresh Expressions movement, as well as the movement’s theological underpinnings. From practical experience, Collins offers insights to local church leaders on how this might unfold in and through your church.
