Alumni Updates – August 2014

Andrew “Drew” Charles Martin (2007,  MDiv/MAPC) was ordained as an elder in full connection in the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on June 2nd of this year. Drew has been appointed as the pastor at Lebanon United Methodist Church, which is just outside of Columbia, SC. He and his wife, Grace, gave birth to their third child, Susanna Hope Martin, on June 22nd. She weighed 6 pounds and 6 ounces and measured 17 1/2 inches long. Mother and baby are both doing well. Susanna was welcomed by her sisters Anna Grace (2/3/10) and Esther Joy (2/6/11).

           

After a 23-year career, Chaplain (Major) James McNeely, II (1994, MDiv) retired from the United States Army.  Chaplain McNeely completed his career at General Leonard Wood Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  In addition to service at the hospital, Chaplain McNeely served as the Deputy Command Chaplain and 111th Brigade Chaplain at Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Battalion Chaplain for the 224th MI, 795th MP, 5-5 ADA, 1-50 INF, and 2-19 INF battalions.  In addition, he served as the Chaplain Resource Manager at Fort Benning, Georgia.  His military education includes the Chaplain Officer Basic Course, Chaplain Captain Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Chaplain-Major Course.  Chaplain McNeely is an ordained priest with the Anglican Church in North America.  He holds degrees from Bethel College (IN), Asbury Theological Seminary (KY), Drury University (MO), Webster University (MO),  Erskine Theological Seminary (SC), and a post-graduate certificate from Northcentral University (AZ). He currently works as an adjunct professor for the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Drury University’s Saint Robert satellite campus.  Chaplain McNeely is the son of James and Nora McNeely of Elkhart, Indiana. He is married to the former Alisa Lairmore and they have five children.  The McNeely’s live in Missouri.
