Dr. Derrick Lemons (1997, MDiv; 2008, DMin) recently was recognized as an Outstanding Professor by the Student Government Association at the University of Georgia where he is an Assistant Professor of Religion. As a Cultural Anthropologist, his teaching and research are guided by his interest in how religious subcultures intentionally innovate and influence greater society. Also, he is interested in how religion in American culture changes over time and space. Currently, he is doing research on the effects of the Missional church movement in evangelical denominations in America, how millienials’ theological, social, and religious community orientations influence their religiosity, and on developing an anthropologically-informed reflexive theological structure to aid research in the anthropology of Christianity.
