Laralee DeHart, (M.A.C.M., 2007), 47, of Houston, TX- after battling cancer for the past year- died of complications related to the last phase of her treatment on Monday, December 7. Her death was totally unexpected.

Laralee’s memorial service will be at 11:00 AM this Friday, December 11 at Westbury United Methodist Church, 5200 Willowbend Blvd, Houston, TX 77096,(713) 723-0175. James will be helping lead the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the following: Westbury UMC, Easter Seals and Evergreen Church.

Laralee was a founding FollowOne board member and our longest serving director. She resigned from the board a few years ago, but continued to give us valuable accounting and financial advice out of her training and career as a CPA. Laralee was known for her humility, grace and joy even in the face of life challenges, including cancer. James has a long history with Laralee. She was one of his students and coworkers when he was Director of Missions at Asbury Seminary (1999-2004).

Laralee was a single mother and leaves behind 3 beautiful daughters:  Morgan (25), Audrey (8) and Harper (7). Her parents are Mickey and Marlo Acock (Oak Ridge, NC). Laralee was a committed member of Westbury United Methodist in Houston, a church that is serious about demonstrating and communicating God’s grace to a wonderfully diverse congregation.

Please pray for Laralee’s family and friends in this time of remembering and grieving.  One of the ways God used (is using) Laralee is with pre-Christian Chinese friends in Houston. Pray also for them as they cope with the message of Hope Laralee communicated and the reality of her death and separation. Pray that they will attend the memorial service.

Life is short. God is faithful. As we mourn we smile knowing of Laralee’s certain healing, her eternal rest and the goodness of God.
